"now i been searching this whole wide world....looking for Ring Dang Doo..." - Sam the Sham
Chrome O-ring pegs were a common custom touch some years back. mostly we saw smaller versions as highway pegs and passenger pegs. but the larger rider pegs showed up on many a sportster and custom bike that took female clevis style foot rests.
and so it is with my XL883 in the Philippines.
this pair here is being sent over with my wife as she visits the Philippines this coming week thru mid March. some of you may recall my bke was damaged some time back, and as a result it has been running mis matched rider pegs.
the original pegs i had on the bike were o ring jobs like the ones i am sending. one was lost as the peg was ripped off the bike along with the rear master and extensive damage to the engine sprocket cover. it was cobbled together and made rideable with parts i sent over previously and/or scrounged in the repair shop.
so i got these pegs and a nos drag specialties chrome sprocket cover off The Horsebackstreet Choppers Swap Page for a real nice price. the pegs of course being a bit used. now the O rings were missing and truth be told they dont often last long anyways, but i figured as long as i was sending over a brand new shiney cover, the pegs may as well look up to snuff as well.
so i head over to home depot and lucked out for once in that store. i didnt know what size o ring to get. these orings are #18. the largest size they sold as a packaged quanity of ten. ten is what each peg takes! so 2 packs and for 6 bucks roberto is my uncle!
it did take me some doing to get 20 freaking o rings in place. they did fit w/some soapy water and a screw driver pry bar . of course i didnt get a good installation sytem down untill o ring number 17 or so! but its a done deal! LOL!
"i dont know what it looks like, or what it can do, but i cant stop looking for my Ring Dang Do"
